Mountain West Football Sportsmanship — Do We Have to Spell It Out For You?
The challenge: To deliver an important message of sportsmanship in a visually appealing and impactful way. The Mountain West Conference strives to display good sportsmanship on and of the field and asks its student athletes and fans to help in the mission. To execute the spot, we created a visual “alphabet soup” with letters moving across the screen randomly. You can see the letters, but can’t quite sure what they spell out. In the spaces between the the moving letters, we show visual football action and shots of good sportsmanship. As the spot concludes, the letters come together, revealing the word Sportsmanship.
The script reads:
Sportsmanship is defined as an aspiration or ethos.
That a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake.
…with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect.
…and a sense of fellowship with one’s competitors.
Respect the game, respect each other.
Do we have to spell it out for you?
The Mountain West…a Legacy of Excellence.
